Parenting: The Quiet Hour

Many first time parents tend to have a hard time with putting their kids down for a nap or receiving a nap themselves when realistically, it’s a natural proccess…they’ll take a nap when they’re ready to. However, there are method of enhancements that you can always find to help your child receive the right amount of rest during the day so they won’t slug out so fast or nap for a very short time. A child should have at least a full hour of naptime to feel a bit rested.

One method I will be discussing in this topic is a method that I have been in fact using with my daughter ever since she established sleeping fully at night. I call this method the Quiet Hour. Here are some important steps for this method in the Quiet Hour that I use for with my daughter:
– Always turn off noisy electronics that will possibly wake your child up. That can help them rest better and longer.
– Turn the lights off!!! Any light that is on can definitely wake them up or make it even hard to get some rest…HOWEVER it is definitely ok to open up a little shade for some natural sunlight, just not too much!
– Every child needs their parents comfort. Helping them take a nap by laying down beside them and cuddle amd comfort them will definitely make their naptimes much more smoother.
– Lastly, as a parent yourself, the best advice that I can give you is to take a nap when your child naps! You will feel just as well rested and alive like they will and be able to carry on with your day. If you’re already feeling well rested, the proceed to taking care of business, just as long as you get a few winks in!

My mom recommended me to doing this because she herself has used this kind of method with both me and my brother. It’s the best thing that has happened to me and I can assure that it could be one of the best methods to use yourself. Hope this helps!

Fashion Yay or Fashion No?? Instant Wig Hijab

When I first saw this, I couldn’t help but to immediately share with all of my Beautifuls about it. So apparently it’s a hijab that you can pin up and wear like an actual hairstyle while maintaining your modesty. The Wig hijab comes in many different colors (I’m not sure if it comes in different prints) and you can wear it at a special event or for casual daily wear. I recently did a survey about this and many muslim and non muslim women found it to be very offensive saying that this is “haram” or not permitted, It doesn’t represent Islam at all and it’s not modest while some muslim/non-muslim women found it to be quite stylish and cute and ok to wear. The controversy surrounded in this Wig Hijab is insane!

My Nail Polish of the Week…

Is Nicole by Opi’s color Prized Possession Purple! Even though this shade of purple is not really fit for the summer, I love it and will absolutely wear it everyday if I want to lol! I bought this at an Ulta beauty store in the Chicagoland area but Nicole by OPI can be found wherever selling….even at Walgreens!

Dove Go Fresh Cool Moisture Body Wash Highly Recommended!

Hi beautifuls! So tonight I thought I’d give you my quick review on my absolute favorite brand of hygiene product I use faithfully…..DOVE! I am currently using the Cucumber Melon scented Dove Go Fresh Cool Moisture Body Wash. So far, Dove is the only product that has kepy my skin hydrated instead od dry and chappy…..Very soon however, I plan on changing my lifestyle up to a more natural organic one. Currently I’m looking for all natural organic hygiene products to keep my skin looking new and freshly hydrated. But back to my Dove body wash….I have used this scent since it first came out but prior to that I was using the Vanilla Brown Sugar scent which smelled soo freakin’ good! Unfortunately due to my Sinus infection and nasal polyps, I have developed Anosmia( loss of smell) So I haven’t been enjoying the smell of the scent like I would love to. This product runs between $6-$8 and is sold wherever Dove products are sold.

DIY: Fragrance Oils

Frangrance oils and perfume sellings can be quite expensive in stores. Therefore, what other way to have frangrance oils than to make your own scented oils from the very comfort of your home! Hey, it’s cheaper and in the long run it will allow you to manipulate the smell until you find the perfect combination of scents! Here are 5 steps on how to perfect the right scented oil for personal use or for your retail.

THINGS YOU WILL NEED:
a) Dark glass bottle with cap.
b) Unscented massage oil.
c) Essential oil

INSTRUCTIONS:
1: Pour unscented massage oil through a funnel into a dark glass bottle. Fill the bottle up to 3/4 full to allow room for the essential oil amd mixing. The dark glass protects the fragrance oil from the sun so that it does not lose it’s scent, so it’s extremely important to always buy dark glasses for fragrant oils.
2: Choose which essential oils you want to use to make your fragrance oils. You can use one or more essential oils. To test your scent before making the scented oils, hold the essential oils in front of your nose before adding more to determine the combined scents and what it will smell like. Keep experimenting with different combinations until you find the best scent for you. Please note that the essential oils are concentrated and have a strong smell; the scent will tone down when applied to the massage oil.
3: Add one drop of oil at a time to massage oil. Put the cap on the glass before adding more drops. Adding too many drops of oil will make your fragrance too strong. If it was added on an accidental basis, then dilute the mixture by adding more unscented massage oil.
4: Shake the fragrance oil gently before use to make sure the oil bends are thoroughly mixed.
5: Use your fragrance oil as massage oil or perfume (or both as a 2 in 1) Apply it to the folds of your skin where your body is the warmest so when it heats up throughout the day, the pleasant fragrant oil scent will be released.

And there you have it! I’m quite positive that the ingredients can be found anywhere in stores and is affordable. I personally started making my own fragrances awhile ago and absolutely love it! I can’t tell u how much money I saved this past year!

My Ka’oir Snookilicious Lipstick Review

I am just in love with that color…let alone the whole Ka’oir makeup line! I first heard about Snookilicious obviously through Snooki’s twitter when she was tweeting about it last year…that’s how I came across to discover Keyshia Ka’oir’s (aka Keyshia Dior) makeup line Kaoir Cosmetics in general…and I knew that I was going to start collecting all of her makeup! I started off with Sookilicious NOT because it’s snooki’s own lip color, but because of that shade of pink that I was highly fascinated with! Pink is my absolute fav color in the whole wide world lol and I knew that The lipstick was meant for me which is why I choose that lipstick as the kickoff to my Kaoir collection at home.
It’s a very pretty light bold pink made for women of all shades. I had no shame whatsoever ini rocking this sexy sassy pink lipstick color the minute I received it. Of course with me being a beautiful dark skin black woman, I did receive some negative feedback: Brivonn, you look like u were in a circus with that light pink color! Why bother to buy a color that doesn’t suit you?? You’re really going to wear that color out are you?? HECK YEAH I am and proudly will because Last I heard… the lovely Miss Keyshia Kaoir does not discriminate on who wears her makeup line so please the negative comments are definitely coming in one ear and right out the other! But enough about that… this 4 oz tube of lipstick is actually on sale on her website for $18.99 (original priced at $21.99) so now is the time to hurry and grab her sweet pink lip color! You can also go on twitter and hashtag the word “kaoir” and you might be able to find kaoir makeup followers with discount codes posted on their tweets! I highly recommend you to use the codes to your advantage to save some money (it’s better than not saving at all *shrugs shoulders*).

The next color that I might be purchasing will either be Knight (black lipstick) or Sex (dark plum red) and I will be pistingmy next blog review about it!
